Devil Hunter

Jess Franco liked to film back to back, and Devil Hunter was subsequently done so with Mondo Cannibale. I haven’t seen the latter, but dived into Devil Hunter with naive enthusiasm. According to Wikipedia it had been banned in the UK, as it featured on the notorious video nasty list. Video waste of time would be more appropriate. This must be the worst Franco film I have seen so far.
A beautiful blonde model, Laura, arrives in South America and is subsequently kidnapped and taken to an island to await a ransom payment. Little do the kidnappers know, the island is frequented by a cannibalistic prowling naked devil who is worshipped in fear by the local tribespeople. Vietnam vet Pete and his pal, who is suffering with PTSD from his war experience, are despatched to bring back the blonde model and the ransom money intact.
Much bloodshed is involved, a head becomes loose from a body, hearts are eaten and Pete defeats the naked devil in a tussle on the cliff edge. The kidnappers are dead, the local tribe rejoice, Pete and Laura escape with the ransom money and all’s well. Contains lots of nudity, banging on drums and some terrible dubbed English accents.
Apparently it’s better than Mondo Cannibale, so I will certainly be giving that one a wide berth.
