House of Whipcord

More Pete Walker psychodrama with House of Whipcord. A young French model, Ann-Marie (Penny Irving), is lured to a private prison by new boyfriend Mark E. Dessart. His name sounds like Marquis de Sade, Ann-Marie quips in the car on the way to face her punishment for going naked in public. The private prison is run by Margaret and Desmond, parents to Mark, and staffed by two wardens. Punishment for breaking the rules is solitary confinement, flogging, and finally hanging for a third offence.
Only Ann-Marie’s friend Julia, played by Ann Michelle (Virgin Witch, Psychomania), is out to find where she is, and finally locates her at what she thinks is a private health clinic. There is a restrained performance from Sheila Keith as one of the wardens, and Ray Brooks enjoys the chance to play Ann Michelle’s hapless boyfriend who comes good in the end.
A lot less bonkers than Frightmare, but Pete Walker knows how to deliver the exploitation tropes enough to keep his audience entertained.
