House of Mortal Sin

I enjoy finding Pete Walker films that have previously eluded me, and this is a real gem from the master of British exploitation. House of Mortal Sin, aka The Confessional, from 1976, has a repressed priest played by British thesp Anthony Sharp, alongside British TV stalwarts Susan Penhaligon, Stephanie Beacham, Norman Eshley and, of course, Sheila Keith.
Sheila isn’t even the maddest character in this psycho-religious yarn of repression, crisis of faith and punishment for immoral choices.
There is the usual bloody carnage you would expect from Walker, but interestingly little of the nudity that is a usual staple of his films.
I have now notched up seven Walker films reviewed for posterity. A couple of return viewings, Schizo and The Comeback, to sign off before finally digging further into the Walker catalogue.
