The Case of the Bloody Iris (1972) was described in DVD Talk as “a competent thriller which offers enough sex and violence to satisfy the most ardent giallo fan”. In my humble opinion, The Case of the Bloody Iris is muddled in its plotting even by giallo standards. The black leather gloves are swapped for brown rubber ones, to differentiate this from other films of its ilk.
Edwige Fenech is always great to watch. Nobody comes near her for her beauty, and the camera loves to capture those dark eyes. Definitely one to watch for her alone. Just go along with the stamp-collecting police commissioner and his incompetent detective, part of the cast that punctuate the film for little reason other than to pack out the list of characters.
Italian regular George Hilton plays Edwige’s love interest and chief murder suspect, and they act well around each other. Music is by Bruno Nicolai, known for his contribution to Italian genre cinema.
